Didn’t realize I don’t have this guy on my socials.
This was a piece I originally made to symbolize my journey out of the depths of my depression and PTSD I was experiencing after my service. The octopus was initially reaching up to hold an abstract glass blown light bulb in one tentacle as if it was reaching out towards the light, which was a metaphor of how I was fighting to see the light again in my own life.

I did remove the light after this piece won Best in Show and Peoples Choice ribbons at the Anson County Fiber Arts Festival because I’m no longer reaching for the light, but rather only now trying to stay afloat. #needlefelting #woolart #fiberartist
